ABOUT BEACON MARINE

A local leader in waterfront improvements.

Beacon Marine Construction is a leader in residential and commercial waterfront improvement throughout Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts. Since the acquisition of Gillmore Marine in 2015, we have continued to build a reputation for excellence based on the superior quality of our work, exceptional service, and reliability. From major new construction projects to small repairs and maintenance, we handle every job with the same dedication and attention to detail.

Our commitment to quality begins with our team. Their experience, skills, and motivation are the heart of our company, and they never give less than their best. In addition, by continuously reinvesting in new and improved equipment, we have created construction efficiencies that allow us to complete projects more quickly, while ensuring the highest quality and safety standards.

OUR TEAM

Leadership

Matt Bourque

CO-OWNER

Matt kickstarted his career working for Jay Cashman, where he ran tugboats, dredges, and crane barges, honing his expertise in large-scale marine projects.

At Beacon Marine, Matt plays a critical role in managing the company's fleet and facilities, ensuring all equipment is well maintained and ready for work. Matt doesn’t just oversee marine projects—he’s right in the thick of it. Whether he’s running the crane barge or handling tug operations, he’s hands-on, making sure every job gets done with skill and efficiency. His leadership keeps things moving, and his deep industry know-how helps Beacon Marine stay ahead as a go-to name in waterfront construction.

Matt's licenses include CDL, 500 ton, National Crane Certification, and Massachusetts hoisting license.

Jonathan Hagenstein

CO-OWNER

A Cape Cod native with a love for the outdoors, Jon took his passion for adventure to the University of Colorado Boulder before diving into marine construction. He started his career at Jay Cashman, working on dredging projects—including gold mining in Alaska—where he honed his skills in heavy equipment and marine operations.

In 2015, he co-founded Beacon Marine Construction with Matt Bourque and Chris Hagerty, bringing his hands-on expertise and problem-solving mindset to waterfront projects. Today, Jon helps steer Beacon Marine while staying involved in the community, serving on the boards of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Blue Economy Foundation, and Osterville Anglers Club.

Chris Hagerty

CO-OWNER

Splitting his time between Cape Cod and Stowe, Vermont, Chris grew up with a love for both the ocean and the mountains—an adventurous spirit that led him to a career as a professional snowboarder. But the call of something even bigger brought him to Alaska, where he joined Matt and Jon in gold mining operations with Jay Cashman Inc.

That experience paved the way for his transition into marine and heavy civil construction, where he honed his skills as a field superintendent. Now, as part of Beacon Marine Construction, Chris is responsible for construction sales, ensuring every project benefits from his sharp attention to detail and meticulous scheduling. He stays deeply engaged in the build process, bringing a hands-on approach to everything he does.

Our mission is to facilitate and maintain a connection to the water through an unparalleled commitment to quality, the professional development of our people, and the creation of lasting relationships.

Our Vision

We facilitate a connection to the water in a physical sense with the structures that we build and maintain. In the emotional sense, we have a deep connection to the water simply by working on it and interacting with it every day. Furthermore, we see our clients recreating on it and enjoying it.

Our unparalleled commitment to quality is deeper than just producing a quality product. This is a commitment to quality processes, quality equipment, quality relationships, and quality culture where we do not accept shortcuts. The ocean is a perfect example of an environment where your quality will be tested, and our goal is to deliver the right product the first time. We are unparalleled in that we are leaders in our industry, and we exemplify best practices in all projects regardless of size.

The professional development of our people is a look inward at ourselves and how we are growing as individuals. This is done by providing the mentoring, licensing, and education to deliver the rest of our mission successfully. In addition, we are investing in ourselves to grow and learn new things. Not being satisfied with status quo and eager to try new things.

Creating lasting relationships is predicated upon our conduct and professionalism. This relates to our relationships with our co-workers and their families, our clients, as well as our vendors. Each interaction should be a building block towards a positive relationship. Our company culture is instilled in each of us, and any time we interact with someone, we are representing our company.
